FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Ted Cruz Abandoned Freezing Texans for Sunny Cancún During Deadly Winter Storm Uri

AUSTIN, Texas – Three years ago, during the most significant winter weather event in recent state history, Ted Cruz flew first class out of Houston for warmer waters in Cancún, MX – while millions of Texans were left freezing and hundreds died.

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Cruz is seldom in Texas, but when he is, he prioritizes mega donor meetings, speaks at NRA events, or attends sports games that almost always end in Texas losses. And when Texans needed leadership in times of crisis, Cruz displayed his inability to weather the storm alongside his suffering constituents proving he is only looking out for himself – even when lives are on the line. Winter Storm Uri’s lasting impact on our state will forever be attached to Ted Cruz’s infamously selfish escape. Rest assured, Ted Cruz’s unpopularity did not begin or end with his ritzy vacation to Cancún – and Texans will carry this memory with them to the ballot box in November to send Cruz packing for good.”
